Happy Birthday to the Love of My Life

Happy birthday Michael 😘
One of the most profound lessons I have learned since we lost Michael is this: in the very same moment I am experiencing pain, loss and sadness... I can also be experiencing joy, beauty and love. Today will be one of those days and I will choose to focus on the love, the joy and the beauty of this man and those who love him✨
Last year on this day we were living in a little, 3 bedroom, yellow house in Glenview. I woke up early to get downstairs to make his coffee, grab the paper and make him his favorite breakfast. I woke up the girls and we brought up 24 balloons that I had hidden in the basement and tied them all around our little first floor. It looked like the house from that movie UP ❤️. Then we tip toed upstairs with a speaker in hand to continue the birthday morning tradition that my father started with us as kids...
We BLASTED the Beatles song “Today’s Your Birthday”, sang as loud as we could, and jumped up and down on the bed around Michael 😀 it was just a few seconds and Michael was up jumping on the bed with us 😂. We all wait for this the morning of our birthday and on this day it was Michaels turn. 
I left love notes in his briefcase, car, underwear drawer, his computer and even sent a card to his office. Each one telling him something I loved about him and why I was so grateful he was born. After work we celebrated with cake, gifts and telling Michael stories and sharing our love for him. 
And today I share the same sentiment... I am grateful you were born and that I had the honor of loving such an extraordinary man and receive your love in return. What a joy and blessing it was to stand in the warmth of your light. 
Although I miss the physical body and yearn for a gentle kiss and your embrace, I’m deeply grateful that I still have the love, and that, I know, is eternal. 
You were a teacher of love to all who knew you, thank you for that gift ❤️
