Valentines Day 2019

Valentine’s Day eve I went to bed thinking about Valentine’s morning the year before. Michael woke me up by gently rubbing my head. He had my skinny vanilla latte, a heart shaped donut and his smile. He whispered, “Come downstairs and see your surprises”. There I found cute cards from the girls, flowers, jewelry, treats and the biggest hug from my love.
This year, on Valentine’s Day morning I was minding my own business. I was sleeping soundly at 4am when I was awoken by the feeling of vomit hitting the skin on my neck and chest (should have worn a turtleneck to bed). I mean really... nothing says “I love you” quite like being thrown up on ❤️
I opened my eyes (in shock) and saw my sweet baby... and all I could do was laugh. It was a deep belly laugh, wild eyed crazy kind of laugh 😂. Thank goodness there is humor that can be found in any moment... even if it’s twisted humor.
The start of the day was a stark contrast from last year, but we were brought to our knees by the outpouring of love. We were showered in it by friends, family and even some complete strangers who had heard about our story and our journey.
I tuck my chin and bow my head in gratitude. Thank you friends ❤️
