Daily doses of gratitude...
Gratitude is a part of my daily routine. During one of the darkest moments of my life when I didn’t think I could possibly carry on, and quite frankly... was in a place where I didn’t want to anymore, I learned a powerful lesson. It’s often times our darkest moments that bring us into our brightest light and teach us our greatest lessons. And that is something to be grateful for. I had a dear friend tell me to make a gratitude list of ten things every night that I was grateful for AND that I had to be specific. She instructed me to write it out in pen and paper, not electronically, and to take a picture of it and send it to her nightly. As I look back at this journal I see that even on my worst days I had 10 things to be grateful for... and yeah sometimes my perspective had me grateful for just a warm bed, my white soft blanket, my morning coffee, legs that could carry me all day. What I find so interesting is how my list changed over the years which is a testament to a shift in perspective from actively looking for the blessings. I can see where I started to shift and became grateful for my “hard days”, my challenging situations” and the opportunity to choose love when navigating life. At times I even write about the awareness that the growth during my darkest moments would teach me and if I let it, it would brighten my light. I also know that is gift to share with others.
The shift in perspective from years of writing gratitude lists allows me to see LOVE ❤️ in a pile of bagels, in the middle of the grocery store, the day before Thanksgiving 😀
Grateful for it all 🧡
It’s a big beautiful life 🧡
