#BadAssWidow

I was a single mom when I met Michael. I had shoveled plenty of driveways and walkways. He said “you’ll never shovel another driveway or walkway again. I know you can, and if you want to that’s fine, but I will always do this for you.”
The Thelma to my Louise, Meg O'Connor McGuinness, stayed over last night with us and we woke up to 5-8 inches of snow and the plow had already come through so there was a solid wall at the end of the driveway.
We got up, got dressed and walked outside. Meg said, “I’ll help shovel so you can get out.”
I said “Shovel? Oh no, we are going to figure out how to use Michael’s big ass snow blower and go gang busters on this driveway.”
The grin slowly crossed her face and I knew she was on board. I
We tried a few things unsuccessfully and finally googled it... there were a few failed attempts but then we fired that thing up and went to town 🙌🏼
I do think that my strong conversation to Michael to help us out may have helped too 😉.
At some point my girls came outside and took it upon themselves to grab a shovel and do the walk and front stoop while Meg and I did the driveway, maneuvered her car and even laughed a little bit.
I know how lucky I am to have a friend who says YES... my Thelma.
She did say “you are one badass widow” and today I was... and my girls were badass girls stepping into their own strength and power and my badass friend who always shows up 💕.
On our way inside Lily said “I know we can do all of this, and I’m proud we did, but it would be nice to have Michael here to help us ... mostly just because I miss him.”
Me too sweetheart, me too.
He’s got me and I’ve got you... and a community of people pouring love on us.
We are safe, we are loved, we are whole.
